Frequently Asked Questions
What Is Shockwave?
What Happens During A Shockwave Treatment?
The initial phase of treatment may cause some deep pain however this indicates the shockwaves are correctly targeting the problem. This can be followed by numbness and heaviness, and towards the end of the treatment this becomes less painful. The treatment takes approximately 10 minutes and you may receive up to 2000 pulses. Many of our patients find pain relief 5-10 days after the first treatment and depending on your condition and your tissue response you may require from 1 to 8 treatments.
What Are The Side Effects After The Treatment?
You may feel some soreness and this can increase the night following the treatment. There may also be some redness and bruising to the treatment area. You should rest from aggravating activities for 1-2 days after treatment. You may start to experience pain relief and improvements in function the next few days after the first treatment.
