Sugar Shakers Program
Sugar Shakers is an 8 week group program designed to educate, empower and transform the lives of Type 2 Diabetics. It is directed by our expert Exercise Physiologist’s Olivia and Josh, with contributions from Laura Zimmerman (Diabetes Educator) and our in-clinic Dietitian, Jarrod Ross.
Each week, these 1 hour weekly group sessions will comprise of 30minutes of education on a given topic for the week, followed by 30minutes of a variety of modalities of exercise.
The Topics You Can Expect to Be Educated on Include:
- An in-depth (but easy to understand) explanation of what Type 2 Diabetes actually is… what is happening in your body.
- The importance of exercise for managing Diabetes and the benefits of it.
- Foot care - why your feet need extra love and attention.
- Foot care - why your feet need extra love and attention.
- The importance of correct footwear and tips on what to look for.
- Medications and understanding your blood sugar levels.
- Other common health conditions such as hypertension (high blood pressure) and osteoarthritis .
This program is aimed to give YOU back control of your Diabetes, by educating you with the tools you need to effectively do so.
Type 2 Diabetics That Can Benefit From This Program Include Those Who Have:
- Just been diagnosed with the condition
- Uncontrolled blood sugar levels
- Little to no understanding of the medications they are on
- Who want to learn the effect diet and exercise can have on your blood sugar levels
- To connect with other Type 2 Diabetics
- ANY Type 2 Diabetic wanting to learn more about their condition!
The next round of Sugar Shakers is starting at our Mudgeeraba Clinic, on Wednesday the 1st of September at 5pm.
